Learning Styles

Introduction

For this part of the assignment I am asked to look at different learning styles and create an informative page describing Rainbow Charity Blog.

There are various approaches or ways of learning. Every person is individual and has his/her own way of absorbing information. People are almost able of learning under any style, no matter what our preference is but for some it is simply easier to maybe learn through visual as oppose to the auditory.

  Different types of Learning Styles:
·         Active or reflective

Active learning style is when the learner is keen to experiment with the new information to understand them by taking part in activities e.g. group activities that enables them to do active thinking.

Reflective learners are complete opposite to active learners. They prefer to think and analyze new information on their own rather than discussing in groups or taking part in any activities.

·         Sensing or intuitive
Sensing learners are generally careful, practical and patient. They like learning facts and solving problems with their own well established methods.

Intuitive learners tend to work faster and dislike repetition and work which involves a lot of memorization and routine calculations. They have good problem solving skills, love innovation and prefer discovering things for themselves.

·         Visual and Verbal
Visual learners understand new information by seeing it in the graphical form, demonstrations, diagrams, charts, films etc.Verbal learner’s best understand new information through written and spoken words.

·         Sequential and Global

Sequential learners tend to absorb large amounts of information in random order without seeing connections and then suddenly understanding it.

Global learners tend to learn and memories large amount of information absorbing material in a random order without necessarily seeing any connections until they understand the whole concept.

This video explains different Learning Styles in greater detail:

How will various Learning Styles make your learning more effective?

By learning in more than one way, you’re further cementing the knowledge in your mind. The more regions of the brain that store data about a subject, the more interconnection there is. This means that people who have more than one learning style will have more opportunities to learn and memorize more information by using multiple learning styles rather than concentrating on one that provides with limited techniques of learning new information.

My preffered Learning Style

My preffered learning preference according to an Online Quiz is multimodal. This means that I do not fall specifically under any category of Learning Styles but I use various learning styles to aid me in understanding and learning new information. The picture below presents a screen-shot of my own results while taking the online quiz.
